The Jubbaland Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation today distributed a range of agricultural production equipment to several farming and livestock cooperatives across the state under the Food Systems Resilience Program (FSRP), in a move aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and strengthening farmers’ capacity.

The support package included grain and crop storage equipment, crates for the storage and transportation of vegetables, as well as other essential agricultural tools designed to improve farming operations and post-harvest management.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to empower cooperatives and farmers in Jubbaland, with a particular focus on increasing agricultural production, improving crop storage systems, and reducing post-harvest losses that often affect farmers’ incomes and food security.

The distribution ceremony was attended by the Director of Administration and Finance of the Jubbaland Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and Acting Director General, Abdirashid Abdi Beynax, alongside the Director General of the Jubbaland Ministry of Livestock, Abdullahi Ali Farah. Also present were FSRP project staff and officials from both ministries.

Speaking during the event, officials emphasized that the support will encourage the adoption of modern agricultural production and storage practices, helping farmers increase yields, preserve the quality of their produce, and improve the overall management of agricultural outputs through stronger cooperative structures.

The Ministry noted that enhancing access to modern storage technologies and farming equipment is vital for improving productivity, reducing waste, and building resilient agricultural systems capable of meeting growing food demands.

The Jubbaland Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting farmers and cooperatives across the state, with continued focus on boosting local production, strengthening farmers’ resilience, improving food security, and contributing to broader socio-economic development.
