The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of Jubbaland, Mohamed Ibrahim Ogle, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry, officially handed over a water tanker truck to the Kismayo Municipal Administration.
The vehicle was received by the Mayor of Kismayo, Omar Abdullahi Mohamed, alongside other senior officials from the district administration.
The purchase of the water tanker was jointly funded by the Jubbaland Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation and the UN-Habitat-supported Dowlad-Kaab Project, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening local government capacity and improving municipal service delivery.
The newly acquired tanker is expected to significantly enhance the municipality’s operations, particularly in the areas of urban greening, tree irrigation, and city beautification efforts. It will also support essential community services, including the watering of roads and public service areas, contributing to a cleaner and more attractive urban environment.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister Mohamed Ibrahim Ogle said the initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Jubbaland Government to strengthen the capacity of local authorities and improve the delivery of basic public services to residents.
He emphasized that enhancing municipal resources and infrastructure remains a key priority for the government as it works to promote sustainable urban development and improve the quality of life for communities across Jubbaland.
The handover marks another step forward in the ongoing partnership between government institutions and development partners aimed at supporting effective local governance and community development in Kismayo.
