The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Jubbaland State, in partnership with the German development agency GIZ, has officially launched an important training and consultation workshop in Kismayo aimed at strengthening transparency, fairness, and proper procedures in the selection of beneficiaries for the SEPOW Project.
The opening ceremony brought together senior government officials, development partners, community representatives, and other stakeholders committed to ensuring an inclusive and accountable beneficiary selection process.
Among those in attendance were the Director General of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, the Chairman of Social Affairs for Kismayo District, the Chairman of the Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Agency, the Chairman of the Jubbaland Youth Council, representatives from GIZ, members of civil society organizations, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and other distinguished guests.
The training and consultation workshop is designed to enhance the integrity and effectiveness of the SEPOW Project’s beneficiary selection mechanism by reinforcing the principles of transparency, equity, and accountability. Participants are engaging in discussions and capacity-building sessions aimed at ensuring that support provided through the project reaches those who are most in need.
Speaking at the event, officials emphasized the importance of adopting clear and participatory selection procedures to build public trust and ensure equal opportunities for eligible beneficiaries. The initiative also highlights the commitment of the Ministry and its partners to promoting good governance practices and safeguarding fairness throughout project implementation.
The workshop marks a significant step toward strengthening community participation and ensuring that the SEPOW Project delivers meaningful and targeted support to vulnerable populations across Jubbaland.
