The Minister of Interior Security of the Jubbaland State Government, Major General Yusuf Hussein Osman Dhumal, today officially inaugurated a capacity-building training program for female personnel serving in various Jubbaland security forces and the Somali National Army.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Women and Human Rights, the Commander of the Lower Jubba Regional Police Division, Colonel Sadiq Mahmud Dhogor, the Director General of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, as well as a delegation from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) led by the mission’s Police Commissioner.
The training, organized under the leadership of the Jubbaland Police Command, is being delivered by instructors from the Sierra Leone Police contingent serving under the United Nations Police (UNPOL). The program is designed to enhance the knowledge, professional skills, and operational capacity of female security officers, strengthening their vital role in promoting security, stability, and peace within Jubbaland and Somalia at large.
Speaking during the event, officials highlighted the importance of empowering women in the security sector and equipping them with the skills necessary to contribute effectively to public safety, community engagement, and peacebuilding efforts.
Following the inauguration, the Minister of Women and Human Rights of Jubbaland, Mrs. Cadar, presented a certificate of recognition and honor to a female officer from the Jubbaland Police Force. The female officer was recognized for her outstanding academic achievement as one of the students who successfully passed this year’s national secondary school certificate examinations, demonstrating excellence both in service and education.
The recognition underscored Jubbaland’s commitment to promoting education, professional development, and the advancement of women within the security institutions.
