The Lower Jubba Regional Police Command has successfully concluded a three-day workshop and consultative dialogue that brought together the Jubbaland Youth Council, youth organizations, the Peace Action Committee (PAC), and the Police Gender and Child Protection Unit.
The event, held at the Central Police Station in Kismayo, focused on strengthening cooperation between the police and local communities to prevent and reduce violence against women and children. Participants engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing public awareness, promoting community participation, and developing collaborative approaches to address protection concerns.
Speaking during the closing session, Farhan Abdi, Chairman of the Jubbaland Youth Council, emphasized the importance of the dialogue in raising community awareness and encouraging greater public engagement in efforts to combat abuse and violence.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Dahabo Mubarak urged community members to play a more active role in preventing violence and supporting initiatives that promote safety and security. She highlighted the critical role of collective action in protecting vulnerable groups and fostering a safer environment for women and children.
The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to strengthen partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the community in addressing violence, safeguarding human rights, and promoting lasting peace and security across the region.
