The Speaker of the Jubaland Parliament, Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman, accompanied by a delegation, arrived today in Afmadow District of the Lower Jubba region as part of efforts to bolster ongoing security operations in the area.
The delegation received a warm welcome in the heart of Afmadow town from district officials and hundreds of local residents.
According to officials, the Speaker’s visit is aimed at accelerating and strengthening the ongoing military operations being conducted jointly by the Somali National Army (SNA) and Jubaland forces. The operations have recently recorded significant successes against terrorist groups in a series of offensives carried out over the past days.
Security sources said the military campaign has led to notable gains on the ground, further reinforcing stability and enhancing the safety of communities across the region.
Authorities also confirmed that the strategic roads linking Kismayo and Afmadow have been completely cleared of insurgent elements, improving movement for civilians, security forces, and commercial activities between the two key towns.
The visit underscores Jubaland’s continued commitment to supporting security efforts and consolidating recent gains achieved in the fight against terrorism across Lower Jubba and surrounding areas.
