Forces from the Jubbaland State Army, alongside units of the Somali National Army (SNA), have seized weapons and military equipment from Al‑Shabaab militants following a series of coordinated military operations.

The operations were carried out in the bushy area of Dhasheeg-Waamo, where security forces conducted targeted offensives against the extremist group. Officials confirmed that the recovered arsenal included various firearms and supplies that had been in the possession of the militants.

Military sources described the operation as carefully planned and successfully executed, resulting in significant disruption to Al‑Shabaab’s activities in the area. The joint forces demonstrated the captured equipment as evidence of the progress being made on the ground.

“These operations are part of ongoing efforts to eliminate Al-Shabaab Khawaarij elements and restore lasting peace in Jubbaland,” a security official stated.

The offensive forms part of a broader strategy by Somali authorities to intensify pressure on militant groups, particularly in rural and forested regions where they often seek refuge.

Authorities say such operations are critical to stabilizing vulnerable areas and ensuring the safety of local communities.

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to continue these security campaigns, emphasizing that the collaboration between federal and regional forces is yielding tangible results in the fight against extremism.
