The Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education of Jubbaland has officially unveiled the classification of primary, intermediate, and secondary schools in Kismayo, marking a significant step toward improving the quality and competitiveness of education in the region.

The announcement was made during a well-attended ceremony held at the Kismayo Vocational Training Center, bringing together key stakeholders in the education sector.

The event was led by the Minister of Education, Abdinaasir Seeraar Maax, alongside members of the Jubbaland government, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, school administrators, teachers, students, and representatives from civil society.

The newly introduced classification system aims to assess and rank schools based on performance, standards, and overall educational outcomes.

Officials say the initiative is designed to encourage healthy competition among institutions, promote academic excellence, and ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning environments.

Speakers at the event widely praised the ministry’s efforts to strengthen the education sector. They highlighted the importance of accountability, consistent evaluation, and community involvement in driving sustainable progress in schools.
Addressing the gathering, education leaders emphasized that the initiative will help identify areas needing improvement while recognizing high-performing schools.

They also underscored that such measures are crucial in building a strong foundation for students and preparing them for higher education and future opportunities.

Participants further encouraged students and educators to embrace the initiative as a motivation to work harder, improve academic performance, and elevate the overall standard of education in Kismayo.

A strong call to action was made for schools, teachers, and learners to actively engage in knowledge development and foster a culture of excellence across the region.

This milestone initiative reflects the Jubbaland government’s broader commitment to investing in human capital and ensuring access to quality education for all.
