Police in Dhobley District, Lower Jubba region of somalia have arrested a group of young individuals suspected of attempting illegal migration, according to local authorities.
The arrests were made at a security checkpoint on the outskirts of the town, where officers became suspicious of the group as they lacked proper documentation required to enter the area. The youths were reportedly traveling from Mogadishu and are believed to have been planning to cross into neighboring Kenya, with the ultimate goal of embarking on a dangerous onward journey to Libya.
Following detailed questioning and investigation, police confirmed that the individuals were part of an attempted human trafficking operation.
Authorities also seized the vehicle used to transport them from the capital, along with several individuals suspected of facilitating the illegal migration.
Dhobley District Police stated that the operation highlights their continued vigilance in monitoring movement into the town, especially given its proximity to international borders. Officials emphasized that security forces remain on high alert to combat human trafficking networks and ensure the safety of residents.
