The Commander of the Jubbaland State Darawish Forces in the Gedo region, General Abas Adan Gurey, on Sunday addressed units of the Darawish forces during a general assembly, accompanied by senior officers from the command leadership.
In his address, General Gurey informed the troops that large‑scale security operations will soon be launched targeting armed groups opposed to peace and stability in the region.
He said the planned security operations are aimed at strengthening security and ensuring lasting stability for communities across Gedo.
The commander emphasized that the Jubbaland Darawish Forces remain fully committed to protecting the safety and security of the people of Jubbaland, urging soldiers to double their efforts in safeguarding peace and maintaining public order.
General Gurey also raised concerns over armed groups allegedly organized from Mogadishu, which he said are causing insecurity for civilians in Balad Hawo district. He stressed that the situation requires urgent and decisive action to protect local residents and restore calm.
Concluding his remarks, the commander called on the forces to maintain high alertness, unity, and strict adherence to command directives, noting that discipline and cooperation are essential to achieving success in the forthcoming operations.
The announcement comes amid ongoing efforts by Jubbaland authorities to counter security threats and reinforce stability in border and interior regions of the state.
