The Jubbaland Government’s Emergency Drought Response Committee, currently operating in Gedo Region, has held a high‑level meeting with the administration of Doolow district and humanitarian organizations working in the area.

The session was attended by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, the Minister of Energy and Water Resources, and the District Commissioner of Doolow. The meeting focused on the worsening drought conditions affecting the district, surrounding villages, and the wider Gedo region.

Representatives from local authorities, religious leaders, and members of the district drought committee also participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, officials received a comprehensive report from the drought committee, detailing the current humanitarian situation and highlighting the most urgent needs on the ground.

Speaking at the gathering, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management emphasized that the closure of Doolow Airport has significantly hindered the delivery of emergency assistance to drought‑affected communities. He noted that many families are facing severe hardship that requires immediate intervention.

In the final resolution, participants agreed that all available aid must be delivered swiftly, with priority given to areas facing the most critical shortages.
