The Commander of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) forces in Afmadow District, Captain Deeq Diiriye, alongside district officials, on Wednesday distributed urgently needed water supplies to vulnerable families living in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps on the outskirts of Afmadow town in the Lower Juba region.
The beneficiary families include people who have fled prolonged drought conditions as well as those displaced by insecurity and violence caused by the terrorist group Al-Shabaab.
This humanitarian initiative is part of ongoing efforts by local authorities and security officials to provide emergency relief and demonstrate solidarity with communities severely affected by drought and displacement.
Speaking during the distribution, the district commissioner of Afmadow and Mayor of the town, Abdirahman Maalim Ali, called on the Somali public and humanitarian partners to intensify their support and stand in solidarity with families impacted by drought and conflict.
The intervention highlights the continued commitment of local leadership and security institutions to alleviating human suffering and supporting the most vulnerable communities in Afmadow district.
