Jubbaland Forces, Backed by Somali National Army, Launch Major Operation to Clear Militants Along Jubba River

Security forces from the Jubbaland State Government, working in close coordination with units from the Somali National Army, have carried out a large-scale operation aimed at clearing remaining pockets of extremist militants along the banks of the Jubba River, particularly in areas under Jamaame district in Lower Jubba region.

The joint offensive targeted several locations including Kama Suuma, Baraha Baydha, and other hideouts used by militant groups.

According to security officials, the operation focused on flushing out and dismantling extremist cells that had been using the dense riverine terrain for cover. Forces successfully destroyed key hideouts and disrupted militant positions in the targeted areas.

The mission concluded with what authorities described as “significant and meaningful gains,” underscoring ongoing efforts to eradicate extremist elements and strengthen stability and peace across the region.
