Jubbaland’s Darawiish forces, particularly the elite Birjeex Battalion, together with Danab’s Unit 162 Commandos, carried out a well‑coordinated security operation today across several locations west of Bula Haaji.
The operation targeted areas including Wada‑jir, Haliimo Cadey, Boqoqaha, Karas Kukiye, and Hajini—locations where armed Al-Shabaab militants had been hiding.
According to security officials, the joint forces eliminated more than 12 Al-Shabaab militants who had been concealed inside underground bunkers. The troops also destroyed the hideouts and tunnels used by the extremist elements.
During the security sweep, militants reportedly attempted to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs) along the road between Bula Haaji and Biroole, aiming to harm civilians. However, the security forces successfully detected and safely neutralized the explosives, preventing potential casualties.
Officials praised the continued collaboration between the Jubbaland Darawiish and the Danab Commandos, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to protecting civilians, maintaining peace, and strengthening regional security.
