The President of Jubbaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, today officially welcomed Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni and former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre at Kismayo International Airport. The high-profile leaders arrived to participate in a conference to deliberate on critical issues shaping Somalia’s political future, scheduled to commence tomorrow in Kismayo.

The landmark conference aims to deliberate on critical issues shaping Somalia’s political future, including national unity, governance frameworks, and strengthening leadership consultations. President Ahmed Islam emphasized the significance of hosting this dialogue in Kismayo, noting that inclusive consultations among Somali leaders are essential for forging a unified vision for stability and progress.

Ahmed Islam highlighted that the meeting comes at a pivotal moment, following growing concerns over centralized power and constitutional amendments by Villa Somalia, which have sparked political disagreements. “This forum provides an opportunity for constructive dialogue and consensus-building,” he stated.

In their remarks, President Deni and former PM Kheyre expressed gratitude to Jubbaland’s leadership and the people of Kismayo for the warm reception. Both leaders underscored the importance of the conference as a platform to strengthen cooperation and chart a clear path for Somalia’s future.

The Conference is expected to attract a broad spectrum of participants, including political leaders, intellectuals, and civil society representatives, who will engage in in-depth discussions on Somalia’s governance challenges and opportunities for sustainable state-building.
