The Minister of Internal Security for the Jubbaland State Government, Major General Yusuf Hussein Osman (Dhumaal), today hosted Ms. Berina Kovacevic, the Head of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) for Jubbaland, at his office in Kismayo.
The important meeting focused on key security matters within Jubbaland, the imperative to strengthen cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Security and UN agencies, and how to increase technical and training support to further enhance security across the state.
A representative from UNPOL also attended the discussion, presenting a comprehensive report detailing ongoing support and plans related to security and capacity building for the local forces.
Minister Major General Yusuf Hussein Osman (Dhumaal) expressed his gratitude to the UN delegation for their continuous support to the Jubbaland State Government. He emphasized the critical importance of sustaining the current security collaboration and the successful implementation of joint action plans.
In response, Ms. Berina Kovacevic confirmed UNDSS’s commitment to continue supporting the Jubbaland Government, specifically in the areas of stabilization, combating acts of insecurity, and raising the security preparedness of state institutions.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to accelerate joint security operations and strengthen the already strong relationship between the Jubbaland Government and the United Nations.
