In a major step toward strengthening the professionalism and legal awareness of Jubbaland’s security forces, a vital training on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) was officially launched today in Dhobley district, Lower Juba region.
The training was officiated by the Director General of the Jubbaland Ministry of Internal Security, Hared Kilaas Abdi, in the presence of local police officers, the Commander of Dhobley Police Station and representatives from the civilian community.
In his opening remarks, Hared Kilaas Cabdi emphasized the importance of the training in enhancing the police force’s understanding of human rights and the application of international legal standards during conflict situations.
“This training is crucial for equipping our officers with the knowledge to uphold human rights and enforce international laws in times of conflict. The Ministry of Internal Security is committed to building a capable, well-informed police force that serves the public with integrity and respect for the rule of law,” he stated.
The initiative also aims to strengthen the relationship between the police and the community, ensuring that security operations are grounded in the protection of citizens’ rights and adherence to legal frameworks.
The Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to empowering the police, fostering public trust, and creating a secure environment that supports sustainable peace and development across Jubbaland.
