The Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of the Jubaland State Government, Mohamed Omar Bunu, hs shed light on a mysterious large sea creature that washed ashore at Kiboora beach few days ago.
Initially mistaken by locals for a whale, experts from the Ministry and marine science consultants have confirmed that the creature is actually a rare deep-sea species known as a Shuxeed. This marine animal is typically found in the deepest parts of the ocean and is rarely seen near coastal areas.
“This is not a whale,” said Deputy Minister Bunu. “Our investigation, conducted by ministry specialists and marine science advisors, have verified that the animal is a Shuxeed, a deep-sea species known for inhabiting the ocean’s abyssal zones.”
The Deputy Minister described the incident as highly unusual and possibly linked to natural phenomena such as climate change, water pressure shifts, or environmental disturbances in the ocean.
“Shuxeed are massive creatures not commonly found near shores. This occurrence demands caution and close monitoring, as the carcass could attract other potentially dangerous marine animals,” he warned.
