Jubbaland Government and IOM Join Forces to Expand Radio Kismayo in Major Media Development Push

In a significant step toward strengthening media infrastructure in Jubbaland State, the Director General of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Baddel Abdi Jaamac, alongside Radio Kismayo Director Sade Abdi Tahliil and other senior ministry officials, held a fruitful meeting with representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The high-level meeting focused on the upcoming construction and expansion of a new state-of-the-art facility for Radio Kismayo, a project expected to officially commence in the near future.

Both parties emphasized the strategic importance of the new media center in enhancing public service broadcasting and amplifying the voice of the Jubbaland people. The facility is set to play a pivotal role in delivering community-focused messaging and raising public awareness on key social issues.

Following the discussions, the delegation conducted an official site visit to the proposed location for the new Radio Kismayo headquarters.

Director General Baddel Abdi Jaamac expressed his gratitude to IOM for its continued support in advancing Jubbaland’s media sector. He highlighted Radio Kismayo’s critical role in promoting unity, social development and civic education across the region.

The new project is anticipated to significantly boost the capacity of Jubbaland’s media landscape, creating new employment opportunities and fostering broader developmental impact.
