The Second Vice President of the Jubaland Government, Abdiqadir Haji Mahmoud, joined various government officials and Jubaland communities in performing the Eid al-Adha prayer at the Presidential Palace Mosque in Kismayo.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most significant Islamic holidays. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to God. However, God provided a ram to sacrifice instead, symbolizing divine mercy and compassion.

Eid al-Adha also coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage, which is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and involves a series of rituals performed in Mecca.

The holiday is marked by several important rituals and traditions, including special prayers, animal sacrifices, charitable acts, and reflections on faith and obedience.
