The Danab Commandoes have today carried out a planned tactical security offensive to degrade the threat of the Al-Shabaab terror group in the area of Labakus in Lower Jubba Region.
Reports indicate that the terror group had mounted a checkpoint in Labakus area where they extort money from the people and the vehicles passing through this area as well as “tax” collection from cattle herders in the area.
During the security operation, 5 Al-Shabaab militants were said to have been killed, including the leader of the terrorist group in charge of financial affairs in Labakus area while another member of the terror group was arrested and being held by the Danab forces.
The Danab forces also managed to seize the terror network’s weapons which included 4 AK47 Assault riffles, 1 BKM belt-fed general-purpose machine gun, personal effects and dozens of other arms paraphernalia.
