The sharp rise in food prices has affected traders and poor people living in Kismayo, Jubbaland state of Somalia.
Traders in Kismayo have also said that there has been a sharp rise in oil and sugar prices, as a result of the ongoing fighting in Ukraine, which has been badly influencing the free flow of oil.
The poor who are bearing the greatest brunt of the skyrocketing food prices in Kismayo said that they could not afford to keep up with the rising cost oil prices which was proving hard for household sustainability.
