Election Commission Verification Committee removes names of members accused of “biasness”

The Electoral Commission Verification Committee, appointed by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, has announced that 34 members have been removed from the list of electoral commissions at various levels.

It was only recently that the Union of Candidates filed a petition against 67 people who they claimed to be members of the government, the army and some politicians and accused them of being biased in the country’s elections.

The Prime Minister’s Nomination on Verification Committee announced that 34 of the nominees were affected by a lengthy investigation and sent to the nominated regional administrations and the Prime Minister’s Office.

The commission said it would nominate 34 replacements within 48 hours. The Prime Minister said that his government will work for free and fair elections in the country.

He also held various meetings with some of the candidates’ union and members of the international community and discussed election related issues.
