Somali Defence Minister orders investigation into Naval land grabbing case

Somali Minister for Defense, Hassan Hussein Haji has ordered an investigation into alleged Navy land grabbing by the Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

The commander of the Somali navy, General Abdihamid Mohamed Dirir has accused Prime Minister Roble of looting the land and building a house for himself, vowing that he would not allow that.

The Somali Minister for Defense has ordered the Commander of the Somali Armed Forces, General Odawa, to conduct a legal investigation into reports of looting of naval territory in Mogadishu.

The letter from the Minister for Defense, notified to the offices of the President, Prime Minister, Auditor General and Attorney General, reads:

“There have been reports in the media of a video recording of the Commander of the Navy accusing the national leaders, including the Somali Prime Minister, of being involved in naval land use for personal gain. “You should carry out an independent probe on this and take legal action in accordance with the laws of the land and the rules of the armed forces,” Reads the letter.

The naval land case comes amid a reported feud between outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
