The International Organization for Migration (IOM), through its Humanitarian Return program, facilitated the safe repatriation of 32 Somali migrants to Somalia this November.
Its said nearly 6,000 Somali migrants were suffering in prisons as well as in camps in Libya and needed to be repatriated.
“Currently, there are about 6,000 Somali migrants in Libya, most of whom are still stranded in other parts of the country,” said Federico Soda, IOM’s head of operations in Libya.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) says it will work hard to repatriate them to Somalia and has provided assistance to returnees in Mogadishu and Hargeisa to help them make ends meet.
Somalis in Libya are among those captured during the conflict, as well as hundreds of migrants detained by Libyan forces.
