A Press release from Puntland regional state of Somalia expressed concern about the casual manner in which the Federal government of Somalia is handling the poll issue.
The statement says that the outgoing Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is casually handling the efforts to resolve the challenges that face the election.
“The Puntland regional government of Somalia is concerned that the outgoing poll crisis and the outgoing Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, is constantly issuing statements and taking steps that are hampering efforts to address the obstacles to the Somali poll, ” Reads part of the statement.
Puntland lauded the Somalia premier efforts saying that the efforts of the Prime Minister and Union of candidates is continuing to paving way for an inclusive poll discussion.
“The Government of Puntland declares its readiness to participate in the poll conference to find a solution to the September 17, 2020 agreement,” The statement from the Puntland presidency said.
The statement further adds “The Puntland state government is proposing that the meetings take place at Mogadishu International Airport and expects the United Nations and AMISOM to provide intensified security for the meetings,” The statement said.
The Government of Puntland has also thanked the International Community Representatives for their continued support and relentless efforts to the Somali government and people of Somalia.
