YOUTHS IN KISMAYU SHOWCASE HAND-DRAWN CARTOONS AND ARTISTRY CRAFTS THAT EMBODIES THE SOMALI CULTURE

The Director General of the Jubbland Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed has visited the Kismayo College of Arts which is a hive of pure artistry and craftsmanship.

The center trains potential and talented young people in the arts and crafts field which is now gaining popularity in Jubbaland state of Somalia.

The trainees presented the Youth & Sports Director-General and his delegation with a fine pieces of artistry including cartoons, hand-drawn drawings among other art and craft works which epitomized and underscored the importance of peace, social integration, Somali culture, education and the environmental protection.

The key purpose of the official visit of the Ministry of Youth affairs and sports was to learn about the artistry trainings being rolled out in the centre as well as the work that is going on in the center to increase the effectiveness and the adequacy of training of the art and craft learners.

The Director General said that the ministry is always working hand in hand with the art centre to develop the skills of the Jubbaland youth.

“My delegation today includes organizations that wants to help talented young artists in Kismayu and i am pleased today with the images presented by the youth. This fine pieces of work are a great step and i believe more are coming from our talented youths,” Said Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed

Kismayo College of Arts has about 50 young men and women who are pursuing arts and crafts skills. The arts and craftsmanship are skills which are largely scarce in Somalia and in various parts of the Jubbaland regional state of Somalia.
