A delegation comprising Member of Parliament Hassan Abdi, Jubaland Minister of Education Abdinasir Serar Maax, and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Fadumo Ali Abdikarim has arrived in Afmadow District after undertaking a 120-kilometre overland journey from Kismayo.
During their visit, the officials held meetings with military commanders leading ongoing operations aimed at securing, reopening, and maintaining the safety of the strategic road linking Afmadow and Kismayo, a vital transport corridor in the Lower Jubba region.
The visit was part of broader efforts to accelerate security operations being carried out by Jubaland forces, which have recently recorded significant gains in battles against Al-Shabaab Khawarij militants in various parts of the region.
Officials were briefed on the progress of ongoing military efforts and the measures being implemented to ensure the road remains secure for civilian movement, trade, and humanitarian activities. The delegation commended the security forces for their recent achievements and reaffirmed their support for operations aimed at restoring stability and strengthening connectivity across Jubaland.
The Afmadow-Kismayo road is considered a key economic and security lifeline, and its reopening and protection are expected to enhance mobility, commerce, and development throughout the region.
