Jubbaland State security forces, alongside the elite Somali National Army’s Danab Commandos, carried out a series of coordinated operations in areas on the outskirts of Jilib district in the Middle Jubba region, targeting Al-Shabaab militants.
According to military officials, the operation resulted in the destruction of seven militant hideouts and bases used by the group. Security forces also seized equipment and materials found within the compounds during the raid.
Among the locations targeted was Gambaale, which commanders described as one of the militants’ largest operational strongholds and a key hideout used by the group in the area.
Military officials said the offensive forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and disrupt militant activities across Jubbaland. They emphasized that operations will continue until Al-Shabaab elements hiding in the region are completely eliminated.
The latest operation underscores the continued cooperation between Jubbaland forces and the Danab Commandos in the fight against extremist groups and efforts to restore stability in southern Somalia.
