The Somali National Army’s Danab Commandos, in coordination with Jubbaland security forces, conducted a planned military operation at dawn on Saturday in the Baqdaad area of Badhaadhe District, Lower Jubba region.
According to official statements, the operation combined airstrikes with a ground assault, allowing government forces to enter locations and hideouts that were reportedly being used by Khawaarij militants.
Authorities said the operation led to the capture of several militant leaders, including the group’s alleged finance chief responsible for the area. Officials also reported that two senior leaders and 12 other militants were killed during the operation.
Security forces further stated that they recovered a cache of weapons and other equipment, including various firearms, computers, and additional materials that were allegedly used by the group in its activities.
The operation is part of ongoing military efforts by Jubbaland security forces to target militant groups and improve security across the Lower Jubba region.
