Jubbaland First Vice President Launches Construction of Key Road Linking Balad Hawo and Doolow districts

The First Vice President of the Jubbaland State Mahmoud Sayid Adan, today officially laid the foundation stone for a major road project connecting the districts of Balad Hawo and Doolow, marking a significant milestone in regional infrastructure development.

The road, which forms part of the Daris Wanaag Project, is being funded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and is expected to play a vital role in strengthening the region’s economic infrastructure and improving access between key districts in Gedo region.

The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by members of the Jubbaland State Parliament, the Deputy District Commissioner of Dolow, district-level project and humanitarian coordination officials, as well as representatives from development partners and agencies implementing infrastructure projects in the area.

Once completed, the road is expected to significantly ease transportation, enhance trade and economic activity, and strengthen social and economic ties between the communities of Balad Hawo and Dolow, while also improving access to essential services.

In their remarks, government officials underscored the strategic importance of the project for local development, expressing sincere appreciation to IOM for its continued support to the people and development efforts of the Gedo region.

The project was described as a key step toward long-term stability, connectivity, and prosperity in Jubbaland.
