A special operation led by the Director of the Jubbaland Intelligence and Security Agency (JISA), Mohamed Ahmed Sabriye Basaam, has dealt a heavy blow to extremist militants in the remote Black Sea woodland area near Lagta Hola-Wajeer in Badhaadhe district, Lower Jubba.
The meticulously planned four‑day operation, conducted by JISA forces with aerial support from international partners, successfully dismantled key militant infrastructure and significantly weakened their operational capacity.
According to JISA officials, the operation destroyed bomb‑making facilities, logistics bases, communication centers, and major weapons caches used by the extremist group to plan and conduct attacks against Somali civilians and to launch cross‑border operations into various parts of Jubbaland and neighboring Kenya.
Security forces confirmed that more than 60 militants, including senior commanders, were killed in the offensive. JISA forces currently maintain full control over the bodies of the deceased militants. In addition, troops seized a large quantity of explosives, including various types of landmines, bomb‑making chemicals, communication devices, military equipment, and other materials essential to the group’s terror operations.
The successful operation also resulted in the destruction of several supply camps and explosive-storage sites. Authorities reported that more than 100 different types of explosive devices were captured intact.
Officials noted that the destroyed camps had been used to coordinate the group’s recently failed attack on Kudhaa, also located in the Badhaadhe district.
The Jubbaland government expressed its gratitude to international partners for their continued support in the fight against extremism and in efforts to eliminate the threat posed by the militants.
