Security forces from the Jubbaland administration, working alongside units of the Somali National Army, have carried out a large-scale security operation in Afmadow district of Lower Jubba and surrounding areas.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security in the district and prevent attacks by insurgent groups, especially as the holy month of Ramadan approaches—a period during which extremist elements have historically intensified their assaults on civilians.
According to officials, the forces conducted thorough searches across several neighbourhoods, key checkpoints, and major access roads leading into the town. The sweep aimed to disrupt potential threats and identify individuals linked to militant activities.
During the course of the operation, security personnel arrested several suspects believed to have close ties with extremist groups. Commanders leading the mission told the media that security operations will continue to be intensified to safeguard Afmadow district and its surrounding communities.
