The Director General of the Jubbaland Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, Sacid Abdullahi, accompanied by engineers from the World Food Programme (WFP), today undertook an official field mission to Afmadow district, Lower Jubba region.
The delegation was received by senior district officials led by the district commissioner of Afmadow.
The team’s visit was to carry out a technical assessment of the Afmadow airstrip, with a particular focus on the runway section, which is slated for reconstruction and rehabilitation under an upcoming project to be implemented by WFP.
Speaking during the visit, the Director General emphasized that the planned renovation of the airstrip will significantly improve community mobility, enhance air transport services, and stimulate commercial growth within the district and the wider region. He highlighted that the upgraded facility will play an essential role in strengthening connectivity, boosting trade, and supporting the overall development of the area.
