The First Vice President of the Jubbaland State Government, Mohamed Sayid Adan, officiated a major reconciliation conference today aimed at resolving long-standing conflicts between brotherly clans in the Luuq District of the Gedo region.
The primary objectives of the high-stakes conference are:
1. To bring an end to the recurring conflicts and hostilities that have plagued the Luuq district.
2. To promote lasting peace, coexistence, and stability within the community.
3. To provide an open forum for the involved clans to frankly discuss their differences and disputes.
4. To establish a reliable and trustworthy reconciliation mechanism to prevent future fighting.
The Vice President called upon all parties to demonstrate mutual understanding, compromise, and cooperation to achieve a genuine solution that benefits the local population and Jubbaland as a whole.
He further stressed the crucial importance of maintaining security and actively encouraging the ongoing peace efforts led by traditional elders, local administration, and civil society groups.
This reconciliation summit is anticipated to be a foundation-laying event for peace and unity, finally concluding the conflicts that have negatively impacted the lives of the people of Luuq for an extended period.
