In a decisive operation earlier today, Jubbaland State’s Daraawiish forces—specifically the Third Battalion—carried out a large-scale, three-pronged offensive targeting hideouts of Al-Shabaab militants in the Lower Jubba region.
The cleansing operation was led by Colonel Mahamud Abdi Ilmooge, Commander of the Second Battalion of Jubbaland Daraawiish forces. Under his direct command, the first unit launched a heavy assault on Al-Shabaab positions in the Libaaxley and Barjala areas, inflicting significant damage.
Simultaneously, a second unit led by Deputy Battalion Commander Abdullahi Abdi Abukar advanced deep into the dense forests of Lower Jubba, systematically clearing the area of militant presence.
Meanwhile, the third unit, commanded by Second Battalion Company Leader Ali Hassan Adan, conducted a successful raid in the Orgiiyow locality, another known Al-Shabaab hideout.
The coordinated operations resulted in a major victory for Jubbaland forces, with at least 12 Al-Shabaab militants—including several senior leaders—neutralized. The Daraawiish remain deployed in the liberated areas, actively pursuing fleeing militants to ensure lasting security.
This operation marks a significant step in restoring peace and stability to Lower Jubba, reaffirming Jubbaland’s commitment to eradicating extremist threats from the region.
