Jubbaland Launches Major Polio Vaccination Campaign Led by Deputy Health Minister

The Deputy Minister of Health and Social Care of Jubaland, Abshir Mohamed Abdi, officially launched a five-day polio awareness and vaccination campaign in Kismayo, Jubbaland State.

The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health, representatives from international organizations including UNICEF and WHO, as well as other key health partners.

This campaign aims to reach all children under the age of five across Jubbaland with life-saving polio vaccines, in a concerted effort to prevent the spread of the debilitating disease.

In his remarks, Deputy Minister Abshir Mohamed Abdi urged parents, community leaders, and local authorities to actively support the campaign and ensure that every eligible child receives the vaccine. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in protecting the health of future generations.

The initiative marks a significant step in Jubaland’s ongoing commitment to eradicating polio and strengthening public health across the region.
