Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abshir Omar Jama, met with an international delegation from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mogadishu.

Senior Ministry of Foreign Affairs members were part of the Norway delegation led by Gunnar Andreas Holm, the country’s ambassador to Somalia.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance and raise relations and strategic partnerships between the two countries to more comprehensive levels to serve common interests.

Norway restored diplomatic relations with Somalia in 2013.

Last December, the Norway government contributed $30 million to World Bank-administered Somali Multi-Partner Fund (MPF). Somalia’s federal finance minister, Dr. Elmi Mohamud Nur, stated that the funds would strengthen financial reform.

Norway is one of nine Western nations providing funding to the MPF, established in 2013 as Somalia sought to rebuild its core institutions.
