Uganda’s health minister will today receive a shipment of Ebola vaccine candidates set to be used in a clinical trial.

The country has confirmed 142 cases, with 56 deaths, since it announced an outbreak of the Sudan strain of Ebola in September.

In a tweet, health ministry spokesman Emmanuel Ainebyoona said the consignment will be received from the World Health Organization representatives at a warehouse near the capital, Kampala.

The health minister is expected to announce the start date of trials, the AFP news agency reports.

Uganda has not registered any new positive Ebola cases in over three weeks, indicating that the outbreak might be under control.
