Local pro-government militia displayed a truck packed with explosives on the outskirts of Beledweyne on Tuesday.

Members of the militia groups known locally as Macawisley said in a short video posted on social media that the truck was intended to attack the Beledweyne and was intended to be the fourth blast in the triple explosions that rocked the city on 3 October.

“The truck was carrying 170 barrels full of mixed explosive materials and was intended to explode in Beledweyne town,” one member said.

However, the truck’s driver has not been identified, and reports indicate that the men escaped and fled.

At least 30 people were killed and 58 others wounded in a triple car bombing attack in central Somalia on 3 October, among them two local government officials.

Two bomb attacks exploded at the Lama Galaay military base, which hosts the regional administration offices and several local government officials.

One car bomb was detonated near the entrance gate, and another truck rushed toward the headquarters building and exploded as security officials and first responders rushed to the scene. The third car bomb exploded several minutes later en route to the military base.
