Somali President meets with African Union leaders, discuss a host of key issues

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has yesterday received a delegation led by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Political, Peace and Security Affairs, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye at the Presidential palace.

The leaders discussed strengthening of relations and cooperation between Somalia and the African Union, the fight against terrorism, the future mandate of the African Union Mission in Somalia and the overall security and development situation in the region.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Political, Peace and Security, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, accompanied by the African Union Mission in Somalia, Ambassador Francisco Madeira, thanked the President for the warm welcome and commended the progress made by the Somali Government in the electoral process, national security and the fight against terrorism.

The President was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamud Abdi Hassan Beekoos, the Director General of the Presidency, Mohamed Abdullahi Isse and other officials from the FGS Ministries related to the African Union Mission in Somalia.
