The President of the Jubaland State of Somalia, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has today chaired a meeting of the Jubaland Council of Ministers.
The Jubbaland state President briefed the meeting on the overall situation on the country and the much delayed Somali polls.
During the meeting, the Jubbaland Ministry of Health has reported on the state of health in the Jubaland region, informed the council that COVID-19 is still in place and the health ministry is continuing to raise public awareness and double up efforts to control the disease.
The Ministry of Security of the Jubaland State of Somalia has also submitted a report to the Council regarding the security situation in Jubaland.
The security minister said the Jubbaland security forces are on high alert as the country was in the process of being targeted by terror insurgents.
Meanwhile, the cabinet has today approved an agreement between the Jubbaland Ministry of Ports and Maritime Transport and a Jubaland business company, which will invest in the Kismayo port’s oil reserves to develop Jubbaland’s economic resources.
The Jubaland Ministry of Livestock and Animal Husbandry said that the drought-stricken areas of Jubaland are still in a state of disarray and that relief efforts are still underway to combat the adverse effects of the drought situation in Jubbaland state.
