The chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, called for restraint, and continued co-operation and dialogue between the Somali president and the prime minister to find a political solution to the political bickering.

The announcement came after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed US opposition to President Farmajo’s attempt to oust Prime Minister Roble.

Tensions between president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and premier Mohamed Hussein Roble have escalated in recent days.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has suspended premier Roble’s authority on December 27th, accusing him of corruption on misappropriation of military land, a decision denied by premier Roble.
