Somali President suspends Prime Minister over alleged accusation of corruption and misconduct

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, having seen Article 87 of the Provisional Constitution of the country which states that he is the guardian and promoter of the basic principles of the Constitution; referring to the decree issued on 18 January 2018 regarding the protection of public lands in accordance with Article 43 of the Provisional Constitution of the country and having seen the law banning the misuse and corruption of public lands during the elections which came out on 27 October 2021; realizing that the had received a tip-off that the PM had misappropriated public land owned by the Somali National Army; noting that the Somali National Army Command has launched an investigation into allegations of corruption in public lands owned by the Somali National Army; recognizing that the Prime Minister has put pressure on the Minister for Defense to divert the investigation into allegations of encroachment on CXDS public lands.
Noting that the Prime Minister on 26 December 2021, appointed a new Minister for Defense without completing the ongoing investigation into interference in the ongoing investigation into the corruption of public lands owned by CXDS.
The President issued these resolutions;
1. The FGS Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has come to the forefront of allegations of corruption and misappropriation of public funds, and an investigation is underway to address the allegations, the work and powers of the Prime Minister have been suspended pending an investigation.

2. The other members of the Council of Ministers shall continue in their duties in accordance with the laws and regulations of the country.

3. All government officials are urged to refrain from misappropriating public funds and to abide by the laws and regulations of the country.
