The US-trained elite special ops forces, the DANAB Special Forces have in the past few hours carried out a planned tactical operation in the Lower Shabelle region, which is under the control of Al-Shabaab terror militants.
DANAB military officials said that the forces took control of Gambarey, Dawaale and Gediyan areas in Lower Shabelle region and destroyed Al-Shabaab bases there.
The officials also said that the forces will continue their security operations until Al-Shabaab is eliminated from areas in Lower Shabelle where they carry out sporadic attacks.
The US-Sponsored DANAB elite Special Ops Forces have on several previous occasions carried out planned operations in some areas of the Shabelle and Lower Juba regions of Somalia in a bid to degrade the threat of the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab terror group.
