Members of the Security Council expressed grave concern over the ongoing infighting within the Somali Government and its potential implications for the timetable for the electoral process.

They urged all stakeholders to exercise restraint, underlining the importance of maintaining peace, security and stability in Somalia.

Members of the Security Council urged all parties to resolve their differences through dialogue in the interest of Somalia and to prioritize the holding of transparent, credible, and inclusive elections on time in accordance with the agreements reached on September 17 and May 27th.

Members of the Security Council also urged the Federal Government of Somalia and federal Member States to ensure that any political conflict does not detract from their joint actions against Al-Shabaab and other militant groups.

Members of the Security Council reaffirmed their commitment to the sovereignty, political independence, territorial integrity and unity of Somalia.
