Women refugee returnees from camps in Dadaab benefit from fish hygiene and handling training program in Kismayo

30 Women returning from refugee camps in Kenya’s north-eastern region are benefiting from a 17-day training course by the Jubbaland Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources.

The training of the refugee returnees women beneficiaries is on fish trade and fish hygiene.

The purpose of the training is to supplement the income of the refugee returnees women.

The training is being conducted for 30 women beneficiaries by the Jubbaland Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources with the support of the GIZ.

The Jubbaland Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources, Abbas Ali Ibrahim has officially opened the training at the Kaah Fisheries Center in Kismayo.

Some of the women trainees who spoke to Radio Kismayo said the training will tremendously benefit them since they are looking forward to venturing into the Fish trade.

Meanwhile, the Jubbaland Fisheries Co-operation Chairman, Abdirahman Mohamed Farah has called on the women beneficiaries to make the most of the ministry’s fish training lessons.
The Jubbaland Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources, Abbas Ali Ibrahim, said the women beneficiaries who received the training would be provided with tools to help them in their fish businesses.
