The federal government of Somalia has said that the importation of Khat from Kenya, which was banned a few months ago, is still banned in the country.
A statement from the Somali Civil Aviation Authority informed all Somali airlines that the importation of Khat is banned in the country and that the federal government’s policy of importing Khat to Somali airports has not changed.
The agency said bringing Khat to Somalia without permission would be considered illegal and a violation of Somali airspace, until the government issues a further notice.
The government’s announcement comes as the federal government announced on Thursday May 6th that it had resumed diplomatic relations with Kenya.
Meanwhile, the federal government has said the resumption of the relationship will not affect the maritime case before the ICJ, which will be decided on, according to Villa Somalia information director Abdirashid Mohamed Hashi.
