The outgoing Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, his premier and the Presidents of the five regional states of Somalia and the Governor of Benadir Region are meeting for the second day in Mogadishu today for a consultative poll talks.
The meeting which began yesterday in the Somali capital, Mogadishu is expected to chart the way forward for the long-standing Somali poll issue.
Today, the leaders are expected to continue the negotiations and consultations. They are also expected to discuss the agenda for the next meeting and reach agreement on the election dispute.
Representatives of the international community who have been working to bring together the Heads of States and the Federal Government are overseeing the Conference, pressuring the Heads of State and Government to reach an agreement that will chart the way forward for the Somali nation.
Somalia’s political leaders are yet to reach a formal agreement, a number of obstacles have been cited to hinder a consensus on the election matter.
