Somali Premier meets with Somali businessmen amid resurgence of Coronavirus pandemic in Somalia

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has urged the Somali businessmen not to raise the cost of living and basic necessities at a time when the country is facing the scourge of COVID-19, and the government is offering tax exemptions for essential commodities.

Chairman of the Somali Chamber of Commerce Mohamud Abdi Ali Gabeyre, said traders are ready to work with the government to control the resurgence of the coronavirus disease and thanked the government for its commitment to traders’ requests for tax exemptions for certain products.

Minister for Finance Abdirahman Duale Beyle said in a meeting with the Prime Minister that it was agreed that traders should play their part in tackling COVID-19 which is now rearing its ugly head once again.

a number of death cases and serious ailments as a result of the coronavirus has been reported in Somalia in the recent past with Somaliland and Banadir region leading the highest number of cases.
